Eight Months of Nutmeg!

WOW! She's nine months old today. Which means that tonight I will be desperately looking around for a white onesie that fits her, and then (I hope) snapping a bunch of photos.

But, as a history lesson, in the month leading up to her eighth mesaversary, Nutmeg acquired two teeth. See?

She also started eating foods--mostly fruits and veggies, but some cereal, too.

Sweet potatoes=yes
Green beans=no
carrots=yes

prunes=heck, YES!
green beans=NO, NO, NO.


Green beans dipped in prunes?...
YES.

(We refused to waste the green beans).

She went on her first boat ride, got really good at playing with a sparkly ball, and continued to scrunch up her nose when she's really happy. We call it the "nose crunch." As in, "OOOooh, Bud! You got a nose crunch from Nutmeg! She LOVED that!"

We're definitely keeping her.

Bud lost another tooth recently. He looooves showing the gap.


This time around, he even let the tooth fairy take it!

Back to School

We are embarking on our fourth week of school. Overall, it's been lovely. I am loving our new curriculum (Sonlight!), and am happy with some other switches we've made (no more Saxon math for Bud...because what good does it do being a math genius if you're so BORED that you HATE it? And I mean, we were both bored).

**Update: I didn't mean to imply that there were math geniuses at our house...just that Saxon tends to create math geniuses. Unfortunately, I think it often creates math geniuses who hate math. Sloppy thinking! Sloppy writing! But that's what I meant.**


But I just wanted to share some back-to--school photos. Because.


Can you believe it? A third grader! (which means I've been doing this for four years. Yikes.)

And oh, my. We're having sweet times, although my biggest challenge this year is turning out to be making sure this sweet pre-k'er doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Not that he would ever make that easy, mind you.

Nutmeg Learns to Dance!

OK, Last night J told me that it was time to move on from the fruit bat. And my Mimi called and said, "You're falling BEHIND on your blog!"

We're in the middle of our school week, things are cooking along, and it's time for me to play hopscotch and Candyland (uuggghhhh) with Wombles while Bud and Pixie are away at Chinese for 45 minutes. But I give you Nutmeg's newest trick as a temporizing measure. Or tempo-izing?

I walked past and she was bopping to the music!

This song is the first of a playlist of "happy music" for me, and she just made it better.
