Early on June 14th, the moving van arrived. Pixie and Bud watched the process begin from Brad & Kim's, who were letting us stay there after all of our things were packed and ready the day before. Even though they were not in town. I have to admit, I hate even posting a photo that includes this window in their house, since I've seen so many GREAT photos that have been taken in front of it (Kim is a photographer--in fact, you should check out her blog at http://www.kimjohnsonphotography.com/!).
While J. dealt with loading/loaders and the driver, Ed ("quite a character"), I tried to take care of a bunch of last minute details. P & Bspent the day with "Miss Margie"--my friend whose generosity staggers and inspires me--and they had a blast playing with Charlotte and Josiah at their own "Water World." It was great.
By the time the kids got back, the apartment was empty, making perfect "playhouses" in all of the old closets. We cleaned while they ran around with a freedom they had not had when it was crammed with furniture and stuff! The carpets had already been cleaned, though, so when "snack time" came, it was out on the back porch with them. OK, so it was supper time and they had milk and powdered sugar donuts. We did feed them a real supper some time long after bedtime. There are days when it's a victory to get to the end and all still be extremely fond of each other, and all of that sugar was a small price to pay for such a victory...I'm sure the kids would agree (see Bud, above).
