Struck By...

I am coming to the realization that if I get a real blog post in once a week, I'll be about maxing out.

I'll try to keep the pictures coming. Maybe a picture of the day? here's the one for today:

Wombles came running up to me: "I made a lightning bolt out of LEGOS, Mommy!"

And I think it's fairly recognizable.

Much more so than the double light saber of Duplos that he just walked in with.

I have such a love/hate relationship with Legos.

Happy Wednesday,

Ma II Comes to Visit

On Sunday afternoon, Ma II came up from the big city and had lunch with us.

Nutmeg got to meet her. It was so sweet!

One great-grandmother down, three to go!

Hoping Nutmeg can make the rounds soon (or that you'll come to us!!),

Megarooster

How does a sweet little 6-week-old girl come to have the nickname, "Rooster"??

Maybe because she has three older siblings.

And maybe because her hair looks like this:

Have a good hair day,

I Feel Your Pain

Yesterday, I got a package from Cupcake in the mail. Shall I just call her the Guff from now on? Maybe.

Included in the package were some baby pants for Nutmeg. I had asked if she could send me some that Bunny had outgrown--I have some cute onesie-type tops for Nutmeg, but no pants in this size.

Guff sent me about 30 pairs of pants. It was crazy. CRAZY! Who ever heard of such a thing! More pants than I have myself.

More on that later.

The pants are really, really cute, as are the shorts, and the adorable little baby girl shoes. Bejeweled sandals? Oh my word.

And I DID ask the Guff for newborn pants. The only problem with that is that most of the things marked "Newborn" also read "Up to 8 pounds." Or maybe that was the pair of preemie pants that were in there.

Isn't that cute? Darling? SO sweet and tiny.

Nutmeg was more than 9 1/2 pounds when she was born, and is tipping the scales in the neighborhood of 11 pounds right now.

As I was unpacking the pile of pants, Pixie came in. She saw some yellow, rumba-seat-bedecked shorts, and squealed, "These would be PERFECT for Molly!" Molly is her American Girl Doll.

I'm thinking that some of the 0-3 month pants will fit, though. Those are up to 12 lbs.

There was one outfit in the newborn category that was so cute I couldn't resist putting it on her today. The pants have MARY JANES ON THE FEET, for goodness' sake! And it almost works. It really, truly almost works.

Kinda like me with my pre-pregnancy jeans. They almost work...but most assuredly do not. This is not a game of horseshoes or hand grenades. Or if it is, I would lose.Which, in the case of hand grenades, is winning. I think.

I have my stack of jeans/slacks/khakis folded on my closet shelf, where they taunt me. I occasionally try a pair on, and then wheh they don't fit try to give myself a pep talk about how it's not been six weeks yet. Then I go eat about three brownies--there has been no shortage of sweets in the house, as the kind folks who have bringing us meals always remember the dessert.

It's a conspiracy! And I'm totally complicit.

Anyway, the point is, neither Nutmeg nor myself is having a good pants day. I'll let Nutmeg's picture suffice to demonstrate the point. You don't need a photo of me.

I know exactly how you feel, Nutmeg. I know exactly. how. you feel.

Happy Weekend!

The Great Onesie Compare of 2011

It has recently come to my attention that Nutmeg and Bud share a family resemblance.

It originally came to my attention when my mom sent a treat (pillow and blanket for DBB) to Bud, and printed up a note card for him that had a picture of him as a baby on the front. Beneath the photo she wrote, "BUD!" (except she wrote his real name).

It was really cute. I showed it to J when he got home, and he smiled and said, "Yes, that really does look like Bud!"

"It IS Bud."

"I thought it was Nutmeg." --which makes sense, seeing as she was about two weeks old and had only had four million pictures taken of her already.

So I had this great idea to match up onesie shots of the two of them every month to compare.

But I just found out we didn't take onesie shots of Bud for month #1, or if we did, they are on my mom's old camera (ahem), as J was out of town with our camera that weekend and Mom was in Wheaton helping me out.

SO, here are two shots. What do you think? They don't look alike to me in these, but maybe it's the facial expressions.

Bud had some wild hair, man.

Happy blizzard, or rain, or shine!

Super Sweet

While J and STBAM were here, Wombles wanted to go outside and use the sidewalk chalk.

Uncle J and STBAM, being the gamers they are, went out to join him and the other two.

Not being a gamer, I did not. But I took some pictures!

Actually, I think J took all of these pictures. I'm sure I was importantly otherwise occupied, training for my marathon or working on the seven-course meal that's become the norm around here.

I actually just saw these photos for the first time tonight. And there is a series I find incredibly sweet.

No, not the result of Bud sitting in someone else's artwork.

No, not Wombles' cheesy grin.

This: the interaction between Uncle J and Pixie.
